In 1997, Honda introduced the sixth generation Accord into the US.
It featured a completely restyled and redesigned chassis and bodywork. Available in both Sedan and Coupe versions, the Accord boasted an upgraded and fresh new look, with clean and fluid lines. The 1998 Accord Sedan had dual airbags as part of the standard equipment, while side airbags were available as optional. The car came with either a 2.3-liter in-line four petrol or a 3.0 V6 SOHC unit. Since MY 2000, the Accord complied with the Super Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle (SULEV) regulations for the Californian market. Higher trim levels even had keyless entry system, ABS and power sunroof.
