The first Performance Astra in the OPC series, the 2000 released model redefined the compact coupe.
Agile, playful and good-looking the Opel Astra OPC was launched with a traditional 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine. With 160 hp, low ground clearance and standard anti-lock brakes, the OPC could go as fast as 220 km/h. However, it was more of a sporty Astra rather than a “hardcore” ride such as the 2005 model. Fitted with a rear wing that read as “beware, sports car”, the OPC was the first in a seemingly long performance dynasty. A more powerful turbocharged version came later, in 2002, raising the total HP amount to 200.
