For this generation of the Astra model, German carmaker Opel decided to replace the Caravan designation for its touring version with Sports Tourer (the same as in Opel Insignia’s case).
The man who designed this version was Mark Smith. The Astra Sports Tourer had the same wheelbase as the base version of the Opel Astra, only it features a much more comfortable and spacious interior. A novelty about this car is the fact that its suspension was slightly modified in order to cope with the extra load. The first orders for the Astra Sports Tourer are to begin in October 2010.
