After having taken a 40-year long break from luxury market entries, Peugeot revealed their 604 during the 1975 Geneva Motor Show.
Strongly based on the previously released 504, the large Pininfarina designed sedan seemed more of an upgrade rather than a real new model. Despite having been equipped with the all-new jointly developed 145 hp 2.7 V6 PRV engine, the 604 was a flop. This was partly due the fact that the French manufacturer used some of the old 504 building patterns for the 604, resulting in a blandly styled car that failed to appeal to the targeted customers.
