BMW updated the i8 for 2018 along with the introduction of its all-new roadster counterpart.
Visual changes are minimal and mostly address the lights, colors, and rims. However, the underpinnings have been revised, especially the battery and the electric system. The number of driving situations where the electric motor is solely responsible for powering the car has been significantly increased, while the combustion engine is brought to life when accelerating hard and is switched off far more frequently. The battery has been updated and the 2018 BMW i8 coupe can go up to 55 km in all-electric mode.
