For 2016, BMW started from scratch with the X1 compact crossover.
The new model rides on another platform, looks more menacing and offers more space.

Design wise, you can clearly see the 2016 X1 got in line with the rest of the Xs in BMW’s stable. Different grille, frowned headlights and a gaping trapezoidal lower air intake help create that virtual X the automaker uses on all its SUVs. The greenhouse is taller now and seems a bit longer too while the rear comes with LED taillamps and twin tailpipes.

For the interior you get the same instrument as on the 2 Series Active Tourer, as well as the same steering wheel and gear shifter, while the standard feature list will contain air conditioning, audio system with multiple connectivity, auto wipers, Servotronic and the 6.5-inch iDrive system with Driving Experience Control switch.

Mechanically, you should know that the 2016 BMW X1 shares its platform with the 2 Series Active Tourer, which means it comes either in FWD or AWD, while being motivated by a number of all-new engines.
