Generation Information

Body style: None

Segment: None

Introduced as a logical progression of the 407 model, the new Type 408 featured a different panel and a redesigned radiator grille.
Other standard features included two-tone paintwork, Armstrong “Selectaride” shock absorbers and restyled dash-mounted gear change buttons (round-shaped). This exotic saloon was also fitted with a 5.1L unit and could top around 122 mph. It received an update the same year - the 408 Mk II - equipped with a revised 5.2L engine and a new cast alloy gearbox. Another new feature on the Mk II was the rectangular gear change buttons on the dashboard. Both models were discontinued in 1966.
