BUGATTI Type 40

1926
1930
Bugatti launched the Type 40 model in 1926 aiming to replace company’s previous 16-valve Brescia touring model.
Its powerplant was based on the Type 37 engine (slightly modified) and had 12 valves, twin Weber carburetors and benefited from coil ignition. It could deliver around 70 hp, a quite impressive figure if one would consider car’s dimensions, and was mated to a 4-speed manual gearbox. The Type 40 shared its chassis with the Type 23 while accommodating a standard 4-seat coupe body style (roadster was also available). Both Type 40 and Type 40A were discontinued in 1930.
