The Venture was firstly introduced to the market in 1996 and like its siblings, it was powered by GM’s 3.4 L V6, rated at 180 hp. After 1999, the engine suffered minor changes to produce an extra 5 hp. Built on an U-body, the model used a four-speed automatic transmission. In 2001, the exterior was redesigned, while in 2002, all-wheel drive was introduced. Regarding safety, the Venture obtained a “Poor” rating because the front end of the passenger compartment buckled and crumpled upward during the crash tests. The Venture was replaced in 2005 by the Chevrolet Uplander.
