The Chrysler Town & Country has been around since 1989 when it had wood trim on its side, but the all-new fifth generation launched in a very sharp, very modern shape.
Chrysler did a fantastic job at making a family minivan that they could shoehorn it into other roles. The VW Routan is a redesigned vehicle based on the same platform and built at the same factory, while Lancia sell it in Europe under the Voyager name. Among the Town & County’s strong points are its modern design that was overseen by Ralph Gilles, its brand new 4.0-liter V6 engine and 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Chrysler introduced its first facelift for the Town & Country minivan in 2004.
The new model, based on the same RS platform, featured a redesigned front grille and benefited from a brand new Stow ‘n Go function (only for the long wheelbase models). It offered the customers the chance to fold both the 2nd and 3rd row of seats in case of cargo loading. It was actually this function that made the AWD system impossible to implement on the new model. The facelifted model was discontinued in 2006, leaving room for the 5th generation Town & Country designed by Ralph Gilles.

The 4th generation Chrysler Town & Country - also called the Voyager on the European market - was introduced by the North American marque in 2000 and was based on the new Chrysler RS platform (like the Dodge Caravan or Grand Caravan).
This model came with a choice of several petrol-fueled engines and a diesel power plant for the European customers. It was also offered with a short wheelbase version in 2003. The Town & Country received its first facelift some 3 years later, benefiting from a newly-revised grille and redeveloped interior for the long-wheelbase models - featuring Stow ‘n Go function.
