Just like its five-door sibling, the Citroen AX 3 doors received a rather small facelift in 1991, consisting of a revised tailgate design and an updated interior.
The front signals were also now white instead of yellow. One of the AX’s key features was its very low drag coefficient of 0.31, the lowest in its class. The aerodynamics and low weight (especially for the base version) contributed to a very good millage. The 1991 Citroen AX could be found in two special trim levels - the GT and GTI - which were equipped with more powerful engines to offer a bit more thrill behind the wheel.
