The Mazda Xedos 9 received its last facelift in 2001, one year before being discontinued.
The 2001 model featured a less powerful 2.5L V6 engine, now delivering 165 hp as compared to the 170 hp delivered by the previous unit. Also, the car’s chassis was reinforced and the new suspension was strengthened, while being fitted with larger wheels. The new Mazda Xedos 9 featured redesigned headlamps and underwent several other interior changes, including a new central console and 4 airbags (instead of two, like in the previous model). The car was discontinued in 2002.
