Following a similar fate as nearly all production MB models, the E-Klasse received its own flagship with the arrival of the performance tuned E 55 AMG.
Naturally, the car came with an over-sized AMG classic 5.0 Liter V8 petrol unit that developed 347 hp and close to 490 Nm of max torque, making the car just a little too furious for everyday usage. However, thanks to fine adjustments and an overall impressive responsiveness, the AMG was as good to drive around town as it was to cruise at high speeds. Control is further enhanced by a choice of a “smart” 5-speed automatic transmission which can memorize gear-shit patterns to aid the driver.
