The highly luxurious typ 300 introduced in November 1951 came to be known as the Adenauer after having become a personal favorite of Germany Federal Republic’s first Chancellor, Konrad Adenauer.
Besides a beautiful aristocrat-friendly styling, the car was packed with some of the latest in car technology, such as an advanced chassis made out of oval steel tubes and a load-leveling suspension complete with independent front double wishbones and a coil spring axle as well as a rear rigid swing axle with double coil springs. The cars were immensely successful, having been produced for some 10 years before being replaced with the Fintail(Heckflosse) models.
