The boxy model was an advanced car for its time having been fitted with an in line 6 cylinder petrol unit displacing 3.0L. Good engine architecture and a 55 hp power output were enough to propel the car to a top speed of 62 mph (100 kmh). Although contemporary safety systems or damping control platforms were still far from being invented back then, the typ 12/55 made use of a simple and efficient combination of suspension comprising front and rear rigid axles with half-elliptic springs and an all wheel pull-wire braking system. The model was update throughout its production time gaining new power units with larger/smaller power outputs.
