W18 models bear multiple resemblances to W143 cars with the line-up having consisted of coupes/cabrios and saloons available with two choices of wheelbases(short/long) allowing the construction of larger models, such as Landaulets and Pullmans.
Slightly bigger, the car shared the same technological advancements as the 260 D, having been equipped with a modern partially-independent suspension and four-wheel hydraulic brakes. In addition, the car was launched with a beefed-up 6-straight 2.9 L unit developing 60 hp that pushed the car to a top speed of 67 mph(10b kmh) via a four-speed overdrive transmission.
