Developed to replace the successful Wira sedan, the Proton Persona was introduced in 2007.
The saloon is an in-house design by Azlan Othman and shares platform with the Satria Neo hatchback. Due to its attractive price, the Persona had a 2,000+ pre-launch bookings and Proton had trouble with demand outstripping supply. The Persona is also exported to Singapore, Australia, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the United Kingdom. The sedan is available with only one engine, a 1.6-liter inline-four that delivers 111 horsepower via either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic.
