In early 1998, the French manufacturer Renault launched the first facelift in the history of Laguna which consisted of both exterior and interior upgrades.
Although the headlights and the grille were slightly improved, the most obvious modification when looking at the new Laguna is represented by the round fog beams. The new Laguna comes with numerous engine configurations, starting with a 1.6-liter 16V and ending with the same 3.0-liter V6 24V engine installed on the previous model. This new Laguna was kept in production until 2001 when the parent company unveiled the second generation.
