The 1991 Suzuki Swift was entirely based on the 1989 edition of the car but came with a couple of changes from this previous version.
For instance, the GL 2-door hatchback and the GL 4-door sedan were no longer available. However, the hatchbacks were still in production in GA and GT trims while the four-door version could be found in GA and AS editions. Moreover, the Japanese company rolled out a new upgrade in 1992, modifying all versions with a new dashboard and re-designed front. In 1993, Suzuki continued the upgrade series with automatic-locking front doors but no other major changes occurred until the release next generation.
